Down town bus terminal
Posted 6/5/2009 11:11 AM CDT on news-leader.com
The down town bus terminal has workked for springfield for many years so why the sudden need for change? The truth is the down town buisness community considers the old terminal and its passengers less desirables and wants them far away from their upscale restuarants, and shops down town. After all these people are poor what have they todo with economic development in the city. You see the reason behind the bus move and the exstra 6 million dollar cost to move the bus station 500 feet away from the down town is a ploy to simplie passifie the weathly land owners who like the ones on commercial street belive if you paint a pig brightly enough it will no longer look or smell like a pig.Sorry commercial street, its still skid row after how many millions poured in to paintting this pig and running off the homeless and closing down help centers it still smells and looks like the porker it is.So heres an idea.stop throwing good money after bad projects and start a community development board that actually wants to benifit (all the people of springfield) not just the wealthy land owners who are completely out of touch with their surroundings.Use the money that you want to spend on the new bus terminal for a health care facility or how about give the police and fire department a boost for their retirement funds because the truth is springfields cops and fire departments are all that stands between you and social chaos. The city of springfield is economicly racist and its time people lookked to the leaders to solve the real problems that need to be addressed before things hit the fan.The emperors new clothes is a good book for springfield its how this city has been run for years and it contributes to the economic problems we all share, take a good look at all the empty upscale lofts that set empty ,yet the banks keep givving out more loans to build when nobodys buyying?
