Sounds on the Square Free Concert Series
Park Central Square
June 13th - 14th

Make plans to visit Park Central Square the first three Friday and Saturday nights in June for a FREE concert series; Sounds on the Square. Bring your lawnchair or dine at one of the Park Central Squares 3 outdoor cafe’s and enjoy live music downtown. Come early and have dinner at one of the 40 downtown restaurants. June 13th catch Electra 225 and featuring Blue Plate Special. On June 14th it’s Greene Coast and our featured performer, Eddie Gumucio.

Seussical: The Musical
Springfield Little Theatre
June 13th - 15th

You will be delighted as all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters come to life on stage. Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mazie and all of the Who’s of Whoville! These classical, colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “a thinker of strange and wonderful thinks”! As each story unfolds, you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’s subtle themes are, making this musical one that appeals to people of all ages. Carriage Rides on the Square

Enjoy a horse drawn carriage on Park Central Square. Just $5.00 a person for a majestic stroll around one of Springfield’s most popular destinations. Look for the “Shires for Hire” carriage in front of Riad located on the square. Carriage rides are offered weather permitting
Movies at the Moxie

This week the Moxie Cinema is featuring Son of Rambow and The Champions

Throughout June and July, Moxie Cinema is offering a special Double Feature ticket price. Customers can see two movies in one day for $10, which is upwards of $6 savings. Tickets must be purchased at the same time; internet ticketing is not eligible for this special.

The Skinny Improv

The Gillioz Theatre, in partnership with The Moxie Cinema, is proud to present the perfect compliment to an evening at the baseball field. Throughout the months of May, June and July we will be bringing special screenings of beloved films dealing with America’s favorite pastime. Cardinal’s fans will have the opportunity to catch these films for only $3.00 if you present your Springfield Cardinals ticket stub at our box office. General admission is only $5.00. The Gillioz Theatre box office is open Monday-Friday 10am-2pm, and 1 hour prior to show time.

In addition to the films, we will be bringing fun for the whole family with prize giveaways to early arrivers, activities in our lobby, and opportunities to meet some very unique characters from Hammon’s Field prior to each show.

So swing away and join us at the historic Gillioz Theatre as we pay tribute to America’s favorite pastime with showings of The Winning Team, The Natural, and Field of Dreams that will help you beat the summer heat.
Antique Cowboy Opens on Commercial

The Antique Cowboy Western Hero Museum and Gallery opens on Friday, June 6th at 219 E. Commercial Street. 2008 Missouri State Tent Theater Season Opens with “Cyrano de Bergerac”

The 2008 Tent Theatre season kicks off with Cyrano de Bergerac. The soulful poet/philosopher and brilliant swordsman Cyrano de Bergerac, a cadet in the French Army, falls for the beautiful, strong-willed Roxane, but he is too ashamed of his large nose to tell her. Instead, when he learns that she loves the handsome but not-so-bright recruit Christian de Neuvillette, Cyrano writes poetry and love letters to Roxane on Christian’s behalf. Commercial Street Market Open
C-Street
April - October

Don’t mis the the Commercial Street Market every Saturday and Tuesday through October. Market hours are Tuesday evenings from 4:00-7:00 pm and Saturday mornings from 8:00 am -12:00 pm.
Vendors are welcome! Set up your booth for one market or every market. Vendor’s check in, pay their daily fee and set up shop. All vendors are required to submit a City Vendor Peddler Application for licensing. To download the vendor application please visit It’s All Downtown - C-Street Market.

Package 1 - Park and Ride:
This offer includes a voucher for free parking $50 in Downtown Dining Dollars, and a buy one/get one free beverage of your choice at the Mudhouse - all for $50.
Package 2 - Door-to Door Dining: This offer includes a free round trip cab ride for up to four people from anywhere within Springfield city limits to downtown and $100 in Downtown Dining Dollars - all for $100.

Heer’s Car Park Open!
375 Spaces Added

The Heer’s Car Park is now open for free public use until the Hollywood Theaters complex opens this fall.

The 375-space Car Park will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. for free parking. Motorists need to enter the Car Park from its Olive Street entrance because of the ongoing road closure on Campbell Avenue. Campbell is expected to re-open on June 20, weather permitting.

Additional evening and weekend public parking is available on the newly reconstructed surface parking lot at the northeast corner of Campbell Avenue and Olive Street.

Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street

Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street, a fall celebration of visual and performing arts, will be held Sept 20 & 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival typically draws approximately 15,000 people annually. In its 10th year, the festival features fun for all ages-more than 100 juried artists and crafters from across the region, multiple performance areas, a free hands-on children’s area, Scarecrow Village, a historic homes tour and much more. Artists can download an application at Cider Days - Call for Artists. Registration deadline is July 11, 2008.
